Practical reality

• The baths are sorted by temperature from 41°C to 48°C — six pools on the men’s side, five on the women’s, topping out at 46°C.
• That is hot enough that the bath lends out sandglasses so you can time your soak. Treat 48°C as a claim, not a challenge.
• Open 8:00 to 18:00 with last admission at 17:30, all year apart from maintenance closures.
• Adult ¥500, elementary-school child ¥300, preschool free, when read on 1 August 2026. A half-day soaking-cure ticket costs more on weekends and holidays than on weekdays.
• It is a communal bath of the old kind, not a spa: no private baths, and towels are bought rather than provided.
• The area is built around cars; frequent urban transport is limited.
• Optional nearby stops: Cheese Garden, Nasu Safari Park, the Nasu Kogen area.

• Arrive well before the 17:30 last admission
• Pick a pool by temperature and use the loaned sandglass
• Buy a towel there, or bring one
