Most guides to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo describe what is inside. That is the easy part, and the photographs do it better. The part that actually goes wrong is the booking, and it goes wrong in a way that is specific to how this attraction sells tickets.
Tickets are sold to a horizon, not indefinitely
This is the one to understand before anything else.
The Studio Tour does not have open-ended booking. Its own opening-times page states the date up to which tickets are currently available — when checked on 1 August 2026, that was 31 December 2026. Beyond that horizon, you cannot buy, however far ahead you are planning.
Further dates are put on sale in releases, and the Studio Tour tells people to follow its social channels to be the first to know when tickets are released. That is not a marketing line; it is the mechanism. Popular slots go when a release opens.
The practical consequence for a visitor planning a Japan trip six or nine months out: you may be unable to book this at the time you are booking everything else. Flights, hotels and rail all take reservations further ahead than this does. So do not treat an unbookable date as “sold out” and give up — check whether the date is simply past the horizon, and set a reminder for the release instead.
Hours and prices are not fixed
The Studio Tour states plainly that opening times and ticket prices vary through the year, and asks you to check the calendar for your date before booking.
That means two things. Any price you read in a guide — including a figure someone quoted last season — may not be the price on your date. And the closing time you assume from one visit report may not apply to yours, which matters because the tour takes a substantial block of time.
Varying is not the same as unknowable, and the Studio Tour publishes the whole table. Read on 2 August 2026:
| Ticket | Adult (18+) | Junior (12–17) | Child (4–11) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ¥6,300–7,300 | ¥5,200–6,000 | ¥3,800–4,400 |
| Package | ¥9,780–10,780 | ¥8,680–9,480 | ¥7,280–7,880 |
| Afternoon Tea Package | ¥13,700–14,700 | ¥12,600–13,400 | ¥11,200–11,800 |
| Evening High Tea Package | ¥16,500–16,800 | ¥15,300–15,500 | ¥13,700–13,900 |
| Guided Tour, Basic | ¥10,800 | ¥9,600 | ¥9,400 |
| Guided Tour, Advance | ¥14,800 | ¥13,600 | ¥12,000 |
Children aged 3 and under take a free infant ticket. Groups of 20 or more pay less. All prices include tax, and the standard and package tickets are the ones that move with the date — the guided tours do not.
Add-ons are fixed and worth budgeting separately: parking ¥2,000 (¥5,000 for a large vehicle, arranged by contacting the visitor services team), the digital guide ¥1,480 per device, an official printed guide ¥2,500, and the broom experience ¥5,500.
So the standard adult range is a spread of ¥1,000 across the year. Use the low end to decide whether the day is affordable and the calendar to find your exact figure.
The tour is guided, then it is not
A structural detail the Studio Tour publishes and almost no summary mentions: the tour begins as a guided group and then becomes self-guided.
This changes how you should think about timing. The opening section moves at the group’s pace, not yours. After that, the clock is entirely yours, and the reason people run out of time is that they treat the whole thing as a walk-through with a fixed duration. It is not — it is an opening set piece followed by an open-ended museum you can spend as long in as you like.
If you are travelling with someone who reads every caption and someone who does not, the self-guided half is where that difference shows up. Agree a meeting point and a time before you get there.
It is in Nerima
Studio Tour Tokyo is in Nerima, in the north-west of the city, not in the central sightseeing districts. The Studio Tour publishes its own location and arrival guidance, and it is worth reading rather than assuming a Yamanote-line-adjacent journey.
Plan it as a half-day block of its own. The failure mode is scheduling it between two central Tokyo commitments and discovering the travel time at both ends eats the margin.
There is also a Nerima residents’ discount, which tells you something about how local the site is — and is not something a visitor can use.
The things you can add, and should decide in advance
Several parts of the experience are separate bookings rather than things you wander into:
- Afternoon tea and evening high tea are offered as their own limited-time experiences.
- Seasonal overlays run on their own dates — a Dark Arts season around Halloween, and a Hogwarts-invitation season in spring and summer, each with their own start and end dates.
- A digital guide was introduced in June 2026.
- Student discount tickets appear as limited seasonal offers rather than a standing rate.
Decide about these when you book, not on the day. Anything with a limited run may not be there when you arrive, and anything requiring a reservation will not be available to add on arrival.
How to decide
- Check whether your date is inside the current booking horizon. If not, the answer is not “sold out” — it is “not released yet”.
- Check the calendar for your specific date, for both hours and price. Neither is a fixed figure.
- Block a half day. Nerima plus an open-ended self-guided section is not a two-hour stop.
- Decide the add-ons at booking. Teas and seasonal experiences are separate and time-limited.
